Geologic Name:  Baraboo Quartzite

Microscopic characters:  The rock consists of rounded or subangular
grains of quartz with decided undulatory extinction.  There is
abundant black metallic hematite between the grains.  The siliceous
cement is partially granulated and partially in optical continuity
with the original grains of quartz.
